SURF TRAINING: UPPER INTERMEDIATE

Upper-Intermediate (High-Intermediate) Surf Level

This level is designed for experienced surfers with their own equipment who have mastered basic maneuvers (bottom turns, top turns, and cut-backs) and confidently surf medium-sized green waves. If you're looking to refine your technique, execute more complex maneuvers, and develop an analytical and strategic approach to surfing, this is the level for you. Get ready to take your surfing to the next level.

What will you learn at this level?

In these classes, we will guide you to:

1. Mastering Peak Strategy:
• Identify and select quality waves according to sea conditions.
• Optimize your positioning in the line-up to maximize the number of waves surfed.
• Anticipate wave formation to plan your maneuvers with precision.
2. Refining Your Maneuver Repertoire:
• Bottom Turn: The foundation for radical maneuvers.We will refine your technique to generate maximum power.
• Top Turn: Learn to execute explosive turns using your weight and shoulders effectively.
• Cut-back: Master the art of returning to the pocket with control and precision, even in critical sections.
• Advanced Maneuvers: Introduction to and practice of snaps and floaters to add variety and style to your surfing.
3. Maximizing Speed and Flow:
• Maintain speed in all sections of the wave, even the most critical ones.
• Connect maneuvers fluidly, eliminating unnecessary pauses.
• Optimize the use of compression and extension to generate speed and power.
4. Conquering Challenging Conditions: Surf larger and faster waves with confidence and control.
• Perfect your duck dive to access more challenging peaks.
• Maintain calm and control in critical situations and wipeouts.
5. Analyzing and Improving Your Surfing:
• Video recording and analysis to identify specific areas for improvement.
• Learn to adjust your technique according to the type of wave and board you use.
6. Strengthening Your Body and Mind:
• Develop the mindset needed to face more challenging waves and maneuvers.
• Increase your physical endurance and surf-specific strength.

Objectives for Advancing to the Technical/Advanced Level:

To advance to the technical/advanced level, students must demonstrate:

• Powerful, controlled bottom turns and top turns adapted to different types of waves.
• Consistent execution of advanced maneuvers such as snaps, floaters, and cut-backs.
• Fluid connection between wave sections, maximizing wave energy.
• Precise wave reading and the ability to position strategically at the peak.
• Confidence surfing in more demanding conditions (greater size, speed, and/or difficulty).

Price:

• 1 time per week: €75
• 2 times per week: €90
• 3 times per week: €105

Important Additional Information:

• Minimum 3 students, maximum 6 per instructor.
• Equipment: Classes can include all necessary equipment for practice by paying a "keep-surfing" fee (€11 extra per session and signing a material responsibility agreement).

Conditions:

• You must inform the technicians if the student suffers from any illness, injury or other illness that could be relevant.
• By signing the REGISTRATION FORM form you authorise the technicians of our school to take the appropriate decisions in case of accident or illness.
• Due to adverse weather conditions, schedules may change.
• Payment for the activity will be made by bank transfer between the 1st and 5th of each month. In the concept must indicate the name of the student. If the transfer has not been made before the 5th of each month, the student will not be able to attend classes that month.
• If a student does not attend a class, they will not be able to postpone it for another day, unless the absence is due to illness or injury. In this case, the student must present a medical certificate. The class must be held in the same month (with another group if necessary). The student must notify the school of the desired date as soon as possible. Once the availability of places has been verified, a confirmation email will be sent.
• All official communications between parent/student and school will be made by email escuela@oceansidegrancanaria.com.
• Any communication made by other means (telephone, whatsapp...) will not be valid.
• It is obligatory for the student to have the FEDERATIVE SPORTS FORM granted by the Canarian Surfing Federation.
